“Under what circumstance would a buffalo be chasing me? I know where to hold myself. And I’d like to inform you, I can disappear at my will. So yes, I would certainly still walk.” 

” What are you, a ghost? disappear as you like… -

Now that I remember… You fought me once, didn’t you? “

“Slow as molasses, Noah. Yes, I gave you quite a party when you ran wild like a crazed animal. I didn’t run then either. If I can take a silly Noah charging at me like a beast, I can most certainly take a buffalo.”

She let out a pained yelp, clutching her hand to her chest. “Must you do that every time?” She had to admit she had gotten used to him putting his cigarette out on her, but he had usually used her forehead. “I also have the pajamas you forgot.” She nodded towards a bag behind her.

“You should be lucky I didn’t toss you across the room. My other apprentice got much worse.” He dismissed her whining and looked over the blade more carefully. “I can probably weld this. A little magic infused…It might return to its caliber before. It appeared like a monkey wielded this,” he mused and motioned to a table for her to deposit anything else. 

“At the very least you are able to fix it.” She set the bag on the indicated table and sat down on the end of the bed. “Sorry about breaking it, but the Earl was involved in the fight that broke it.” She rubbed absent mindedly at the seal on her face, wincing at the sharp sting it delivered.

“Do me a favor and try not to waltz with ol’ fat-ass for the time being. It’s much more complicated than before and now I have another idiot who’s done a fine job of tangling himself into the Earl’s business and frankly, both of you are numbskulls. I’d expect you to clock each other before landing any decent damage.” His words slipped scornfully, but he was relieved to see neither of them dead yet.

“I got into a fight saving this girl from becoming and akuma… and the blade cracked, all the way to the middle.” She pulled the blade out holding it up.

He stared for a long moment, taking in the broken blade—cracked but not completely beyond repair…Still… “You’re an idiot.” He grunted and put his cigarette out on her hand, before taking the blade from her. “I’ve learned to expect nothing less than failure from my apprentices, but this is certainly a hassle.”

“Dying simply wasn’t on my list of things to do. I’ve much more important work to tend to. If I don’t wish to be seen, then I won’t be. You on the other hand… You’re looking fine for someone who was trounced exceptionally well.”

“Ah? So you are my host’s lover? you seems familiar with this body”

“I swear the lot of you are all big idiots. What did you do?” He wasn’t sure he really wanted the answer.  

“I-Its about Abaddon…” She steeled herself for what she was sure was going to be a harsh punishment  ”The blade was damaged in a fight.”

“…Define damage?” He should have known. Stupid. Damn. Kids. “I’m going to be very irate if your answer is in the range of ‘totaled’.”
